The Historical Society of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana launched the mural competition in October 2008.
A selection committee consisting of members of the Indianapolis art community, Court Historical Society members, and a federal judge selected the four finalists, who are current or former Indiana residents. They are Robert Barnum, Mecosta, Mich.; Robert Eagerton, Indianapolis; and Tim Kennedy and Robert Kingsley, both of Bloomington.
The finalists have until May 15 to submit proposals for the new murals. The selection committee will review the submissions and make a recommendation to the judges of the Southern District, who will make the final decision on a winner. The announcement of a winner is expected in mid-June and the goal is to have the project completed and installed in early 2010.
