The award is given to a person or organization in recognition of dedication to the innovative development and delivery of legal services to the poor in one of Indiana's 14 pro bono districts.
Nominees may be judicial appointees, plan administrators, individuals, firms, corporate legal departments, Indiana Pro Bono Commission members, and anyone else who is providing legal services full time, part time, or on a voluntary basis to the poor.
Nominations must be received by Aug. 7 to be considered by the award committee. The award will be given at the Indiana Pro Bono Commission's Randal T. Shepard Award dinner in the fall.
The nominations must include:
– The nominee and nominator's names, addresses, firm/company phone numbers, and e-mail addresses;
– The nominee's resume;
– A narrative about how the nominee has met the criteria for the award with specific examples of pro bono work and those who have benefited. Also provide specific documentation or other materials showing the nominee's pro bono contributions; and
– Letters of support.
