The Senate Judiciary Committee has just voted in favor of U.S. District Judge David F. Hamilton's nomination to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
At its 10 a.m. executive business meeting, the committee voted along party lines 12-7 in support of the federal judge's move from the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division, to the appellate bench in Chicago. Judge Hamilton, President Barack Obama's first judicial pick, now faces confirmation by the full Senate. There is no set timeline for a confirmation vote, but the Senate majority leader will be responsible for determining when that might happen.
