At its 10 a.m. executive business meeting, the committee voted along party lines 12-7 in support of the federal judge's move from the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division, to the appellate bench in Chicago. Judge Hamilton, President Barack Obama's first judicial pick, now faces confirmation by the full Senate. There is no set timeline for a confirmation vote, but the Senate majority leader will be responsible for determining when that might happen.
