An announcement came Thursday that Judge David Shaheed, who currently presides over Criminal Court 14 and supervises the county's drug treatment division and re-entry courts, will take on Superior Court 1 duties. He was appointed to the bench in 1999 by the governor and elected to a six-year term in 2002.
Gov. Mitch Daniels is responsible for appointing another judge to the county bench, and Judge Bradford's successor must be a Republican.
