The judicial salaries fee will increase from $14 to $15 for small claims cases and from $19 to $20 for all other case types. The $15 and $20 amounts are the maximum amount allowed under Indiana law.
A new pro bono services fee will add $1 to each civil action, small claims action and probate action that requires a payment of filing fees and costs. The fee will also be assessed in each Marion County small claims action that requires payment of a township docket fee.
The money raised from this fee will go to the Indiana Bar Foundation, which will use the funds to help or establish pro bono legal services programs.
Clerk’s offices around the state are preparing for the change by programming the new fees into their systems. The Judicial Technology and Automation Committee of the Indiana Supreme Court will finish implementing the July updates into the Odyssey case management system Friday. More than 120 courts in 41 counties use Odyssey.
