It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, and some couples will be tying the knot on the most romantic day of the year. For those who’d like to get married on Valentine’s Day but haven’t yet booked a venue, Marion County Clerk Beth White will marry couples Friday in an effort to raise money for the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign.

For the eighth year in a row, the clerk’s office will be transformed into a “wedding chapel” for couples who’d like a simple civil ceremony on Valentine’s Day. In lieu of the officiant’s fee, couples are asked to make a voluntary contribution of $50 to the American Heart Association.

This event has raised nearly $16,000 since it began in 2007, with 341 couples getting married.

Sixty-six couples have already registered for ceremonies this year, which take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City-County Building. Walk-ins are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit www.indy.gov/clerk for more information.
