For legal professionals, going green presents a unique set of challenges. That’s why the IndyBar’s Young Lawyers Division began the Green Legal Initiative four years ago. This initiative encourages legal businesses, including law practices, legal departments, courts, agencies, legal support services and other members of the community to commit and engage in environmentally responsible business operations. Applications for 2015 are now being accepted and are due on October 3.
After committing to engage in “greener” habits by completing a Green Business Practice Certification form, Green Legal Initiative Members will be recognized by the IndyBar at the annual Recognition Luncheon and on the IndyBar website, and will also be provided with the Green Legal logo for print and electronic use when promoting their commitment to green business practices.
While membership in the Green Legal Initiative only requires the firm/organization to submit the Green Business Practice Certification form, members can elevate their Green Legal status by complying with green business practices in six categories: Water Conservation, Energy Conservation, Recycling, Waste and Paper Reduction, Purchasing and Community Involvement.
