The appeal follows a Bartholomew County jury's verdict in February convicting 58-year-old Samuel Sallee of murder charges in the 2013 deaths of a couple and two of their friends inside a Waynesville house. Police believe the shootings may have been connected to a methamphetamine deal.
Defense attorney Jane Ann Noblitt tells The (Columbus) Republic that she will argue during the Dec. 17 Supreme Court hearing that the trial evidence wasn't sufficient to prove Sallee's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sallee has denied killing the four people, saying they were friends.
A judge sentenced Sallee to life in prison without possibility of parole.
