The drive raises food and monetary donations for Indiana’s 11 regional food banks.
The ISBA is hosting the competition with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry. It is a friendly competition between law firms and offices in Indiana to see who can get the most in monetary and food donations, and it’s broken up into several categories.
The categories are:
Sole proprietor;
Small firm, 2-11 lawyers;
Medium firm, 12-21 lawyers;
Large firm, 22-49 lawyers;
X-large firm, 50-plus lawyers;
Public, nonprofit or local bar; and
Law schools.
Winners of each category will receive the Attorney General’s Cup trophy.
New this year in the competition is an incentive for inter-office bragging rights for law firms that have more than one office participating. The trophy will be presented to the office that collects the most in pounds per attorney, which will be determined by monetary donations plus non-perishable food donations divided by the number of attorneys in the office. Every dollar raised will count as five pounds of food.
In addition to the trophy, the firm in each category that collects the most non-perishable food donations will also receive a certificate.
Donations will be weighed at the regional food bank serving the firm’s county, which will be selected during registration.
Since March 2009, the event has generated 62,459 pounds of food and $282,027 worth of donations.
