Major Davis Jr. is accused of killing Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Perry Renn in 2014. He faces a possible death sentence if convicted.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Davis told a judge Friday that he wants his attorneys to be withdrawn and that he isn't getting along with them.
Marion Superior Court Judge Marc Rothenberg refused to hear the request from Davis until a motion to represent himself was properly filed. The judge said he would tell Davis at that point "every reason why he shouldn't" represent himself.
The next court hearing for Davis is scheduled for May 20.
