Kenneth Rackemann told the Marion County court he "didn't mean it to happen" before he was sentenced Friday for the Feb. 20, 2014, fatal shootings at a drug house.
The 26-year-old had faced a September death penalty trial, but he pleaded guilty to four counts of murder and one count of robbery. Police said he killed three people and wounded another before ordering an accomplice to kill the fourth victim after he ran out of bullets.
Ashley Brown's first cousin, Kristy Sanchez, was one of the victims. Brown told the court her cousin had "two beautiful children" who will never see her again.
The cases against Rackemann's co-defendants Anthony LaRussa and Valencia Williams remain pending before the court. A third co-defendant, Samantha Bradley, has previously pleaded guilty to Class A felony conspiracy to commit robbery and is awaiting sentencing.
