The events coincide with November’s observance of National Adoption Month and National Adoption Day on Nov. 19, and the Indiana Supreme Court in June issued an order allowing trial courts to allow cameras and recordings to promote certain uncontested adoptions with the consent of judicial officers and the parties involved.
The first events will take place Friday at 9 a.m. before Clark Circuit Judge Vicki Carmichael in Jeffersonville, and at 10 a.m. in the courtroom of Elkhart Magistrate Judge Deborah Domine in Goshen. Other events are scheduled around the state later in November. A list of participating trial courts, scheduled events and details is available here.
Indiana courts annually grant about 3,600 adoptions.
