Felix O’Neill Rippy was indefinitely suspended from the practice of law in Indiana on Oct. 7 after he received an 18-month suspension in Texas in April. Texas requested that Indiana impose reciprocal discipline, which the state’s Supreme Court did through Rippy’s indefinite suspension.
The Indiana high court wrote in its October order that Rippy could petition for reinstatement in Indiana at the end of his Texas suspension. However, the attorney petitioned the court to reconsider that decision, so in an order posted just before the Thanksgiving holiday, the justices reduced Rippy’s suspension to 18 months, subject to the completion of his Texas probation. The 18-month suspension is effective from the original Oct. 7 order.
