A Tippecanoe County judge ruled Friday against Darius Javon Printup, who was seeking to have his trial moved to another county.
The Journal and Courier reports that Printup's attorney had argued that news coverage of her killing could bias local jurors.
Authorities say Printup fatally shot 52-year-old Kristi Redmon in October after she answered her door. The then-18-year-old Printup was arrested and charged with murder.
A probable cause affidavit quotes an unidentified witness as saying Printup was looking for a male "who had ripped him off" when he allegedly shot Redmon through her door.
