CONTEMPT
Suspended Marion County attorney Derrick D. Eley was found in contempt of court and fined $500 for practicing law while suspended per a May 18 order. Eley sent a settlement demand letter on behalf of a claimant in which he identified himself using the term “esquire” and advanced a detailed legal argument. Costs of the proceeding are also assessed against Eley.

DISBARMENT
St. Joseph County attorney Fronse W. Smith was disbarred from the practice of law per a May 24 order due to his conviction of intimidation after he threatened to kill his wife with an ax. Opinion, Page 20.

REINSTATEMENT
Marion County attorney Robert Cheesebourough was reinstated to the practice of law per a May 21 order after he satisfied costs and fees related to his April 12 suspension for failing to pay costs assessed in a disciplinary action by the due date of the attorney’s annual registration fee.

SUSPENSION
Grant County attorney Tia R. Brewer was suspended from the practice of law, effective immediately, per a May 24 order of interim suspension upon notice of guilty finding for her conviction of possession of cocaine. Story, Page 10.•
