The IndyBar ADR Section Executive Committee is pleased to announce that we will host our Spring Paternity Court Mediation Day on May 3, at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP (300 N. Meridian St., Suite 2700). Through Mediation Day, we provide a service to our courts and community by volunteering our time to mediate several screened cases for litigants who qualify for modest means mediation. Faegre Baker Daniels has once again generously volunteered its downtown office to provide ample conference facilities for this joint endeavor.
To make this event a success, we are looking for 10 volunteers who are registered domestic mediators and have experience mediating paternity cases. Magistrate Judge Marie Kern in paternity court is screening non-domestic violence cases for us and expects to have 10 cases to mediate on May 3. Each volunteer mediator will agree to mediate one case, starting at either 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. Volunteers should bring a laptop to assist with drafting agreements. There will also be a judicial officer on site to approve mediated agreements.
We hope you will set aside May 3 to volunteer for this fun and exciting program! If you wish to volunteer, please email me, Phyllis Armstrong, at [email protected] with a desired start time (9 a.m. or 1 p.m.). Once we have enough mediators, we will follow up with you directly with greater details.•
