Senior Judge Stephen R. Heimann, formerly of the Bartholomew Circuit Court, was recertified as a senior judge on Thursday, the same day Judge Michael J. Hensley of the Jefferson Superior Court received senior judge certification for the first time.
The high court found both judges met the criteria for appointments as a senior judge. Senior status for Heimann will run through Dec. 31, 2021. Similarly, Hensley’s status will be effective Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021.
Hensley did not seek reelection in 2020. He will be succeeded by Republican Blaine Good, who defeated Democrat Mary Jean Stott in November.
The judges each met the qualifications for recertification under Indiana Code § 33-27-4-1, according to separate orders issued by Chief Justice Loretta Rush.
The orders approving certification can be found here.
