Moores was certified as a senior judge under Indiana Code § 33-27-4-1 in a Sunday order. She will retain senior judge status through Dec. 31.
Moores opted not to stand for retention in the 2020 election, instead stepping down from the bench at the end of her term in 2020. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed former Senior Magistrate Geoffrey Arlyss Gaither to succeed Moores.
The governor also appointed former magistrates Marshelle Dawkins Broadwell and Ryan Kenneth Gardner to succeed Marion Superior judges Barbara Cook Crawford and David Dreyer, who also did not seek retention in 2020. Crawford and Dreyer have also been certified as senior judges.
