Effective Nov. 8, both courts will upgrade their case management/electronic case filing system to the Next Generation, or NextGen, of the CM/ECF. According to the Indiana Southern District Court, the upgrade “will provide users with several benefits including Central Sign-On, which allows e-filing attorneys to use one PACER login and password to access any NextGen court (district, appellate, and bankruptcy) in which they practice.”
The upcoming change means that before Nov. 8, attorneys practicing in the Indiana district courts must upgrade their individual PACER accounts. Shared accounts won’t be usable after the upgrade, so each attorney must have an individual PACER account.
Then, on or after Nov. 8, attorneys must link their upgraded PACER accounts to their CM/ECF accounts before they can electronically file in a NextGen court.
Additional details about the upgrade in the Southern District are available here, and in the Northern District are available here.
