Nominations for the Leadership in Law Awards will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday via the Indiana Lawyer website. This year’s awards program will include four categories:
- Distinguished Barristers: People with a J.D. who have at least 20 years of experience in the legal profession.
- Up and Coming Lawyers: People with a J.D. who have worked in the legal profession for 10 years or less.
- Legal Support Stars: Paralegals, legal secretaries, court reporters and other legal support staffers who make invaluable contributions to the legal profession.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Person(s) with a J.D. who has at least 25 years of experience in the legal profession and who has demonstrated excellence in community engagement, pro bono/volunteer service, mentorship and civility.
The Distinguished Barrister and Up and Coming Lawyer categories will feature 15 honorees each, while at least five Legal Support Stars will be honored. The Lifetime Achievement Award can be given to one or two people.
While an honoree can only be recognized in a single category once, they can be recognized in multiple categories across multiple years. For example, a previous Up and Coming Lawyer can become a Distinguished Barrister, and a previous Distinguished Barrister can win the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Winners will be notified in late March and will be honored at an event on June 1 in Indianapolis.
Nominations must be submitted online. Email or mail-in submissions will only be accepted with prior approval.
