The Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure has a new member due to Court of Appeals of Indiana Judge Paul Felix being unable to finish his term.

The high court has appointed Owen Circuit Court Judge Kelsey B. Hanlon to complete Felix’s term, which expires June 20, 2027.

Felix had served five years on the committee. He had served as a judge on the Hamilton Circuit Court in Noblesville before being appointed in June to fill the Court of Appeals vacancy left by the recently retired Senior Judge Margret Robb.

The committee was created to conduct a continuous study of Indiana Rules of Court.

It is charged with reporting recommendations and proposed amendments to promote simplicity in procedure, just determination of litigation, and elimination of unjustified expense and delay.

The committee also serves as the evidence rules review committee established pursuant to Rule 1101 of the Indiana Rules of Evidence.

Pursuant to Trial Rule 80(A), the high court appoints members to the committee.
