The Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section is looking to add more officers to its staff this year and is seeking applicants.

Applications are now open online for both traditional and lateral applicants.

In general, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years old when appointed as a police employee
  • Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be a high school graduate (proof shown by either a diploma or GED)

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on June 16.

The starting salary for a Capitol Police Probationary Officer is $62,327. After the first year, the salary increases to $64,472.

The starting salary for retired or police officers in good standing with 20 or more years of experience as a Tier I or Tier II officer is $75,431.
