The judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana have selected Kristine Seufert to serve as Clerk of Court, Chief Judge Tanya Walton Pratt announced earlier this month.
Seufert will start in the position on October 7, according to a Southern District release.
She replaces current Clerk Roger A. G. Sharpe, who will step down on October 4.
“Kristine Seufert has been a dedicated member of the Court’s staff for many years, and the Judges are confident she will make an excellent Clerk of Court,” Pratt said in the release. “We look forward to her continued service to the public and the Court in her new role.”
Seufert currently serves as the court’s supervisory staff attorney and was previously a staff attorney/pro se law clerk and law clerk to Judge Sarah Evans Barker.
Before joining the Southern District in 2005, Seufert was an associate with Winston & Strawn, LLP, in Chicago.
Seufert will report directly to Pratt and other judges in her new role.
The Clerk of Court leads a team of around 60 people who offer services to members of the court community and the residents they serve.
As part of her duties, Seufert will oversee several legal and administrative duties, including managing the court’s budget.
“I am honored to have been selected as the Southern District of Indiana’s next Clerk. I will do my very best to uphold Roger A. G. Sharpe’s grand legacy and look forward to serving the Judges, staff, and public in my new role,” Seufert said in the release.
