Patricia McMath

Marion Superior Court Judge Patricia McMath’s robing ceremony is scheduled for late August in the Community Justice Center’s Jury/Public Assembly Room.

Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed McMath to succeed Judge Cynthia Ayers following her retirement. Her robing ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 22.

Ayers retired on March 15 and Senior Judge David A. Shaheed began serving as judge pro tempore in that position since April 8. McMath began working in Marion Superior Court 4 on July 13.

There is no registration required to attend the ceremony, and there will be open seating with standing room available.

McMath started as a magistrate for the Marion Superior Court’s civil division in 2021. She previously worked in the Office of the Attorney General as the assistant chief deputy.

She currently serves as a member of the judiciary’s Protection Order Committee and is chair of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professionalism.

McMath earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, McMath entered the bar in 1987 and does not have any disciplinary history.
