Jaquan Robinson, 21, will serve three years and one month in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court records, during a compliance visit at Robinson’s apartment in Dec. 2023, Marion County Probation officers found a backpack containing the frame of a Glock handgun.
During a subsequent court-authorized search of his apartment, officers found a Glock switch in a safe in Robinson’s bedroom.
Robinson admitted to having the machine gun conversion device, according to police reports.
His Facebook messages revealed he was looking to purchase more handgun parts to have a complete machine gun.
“Having or using a ‘Glock switch’ is a serious crime,” Zachary Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, said in a release. “The federal prison sentence imposed here should send the message that these weapons will not be accepted in our community.”
Robinson has a history of firearm convictions dating back three years.
In Sept. 2021, he was convicted of a felony for illegally bringing a firearm into a school.
In June 2022, while still on probation for the 2021 offense, Robinson was found in possession of two more guns and escaped police, leading to another firearms conviction.
He was still on probation for the 2022 offense when he was arrested in 2023.
At the time of his 2023 arrest, there were pending firearms charges against him in Michigan.
As a convicted felon, Robinson cannot lawfully possess a firearm.
