Christopher Nancarrow

Allen County Clerk of the Courts Chris Nancarrow, received the 2024 Outstanding Clerk of the Year Award at the annual Association of Indiana Counties Conference held last week in Switzerland County last week.

“It’s an honor to receive this award among the 92 hard-working Clerks throughout Indiana,” Nancarrow said in a news release. “This should actually be called the ‘Clerk’s Office of the Year Award’ because it takes such a dedicated team to offer our high level of service.”

Nancarrow graduated with his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2010. Prior to becoming Allen County clerk, Nancarrow was a judicial clerk for Indiana Court of Appeals Judge Michael P. Barnes and a research associate at IU McKinney.

“Chris Nancarrow is our partner in so much of what the Courts do on a daily basis,” Allen Superior Court Judge Jennifer DeGroote said in a news release. “He is a forward-thinking public servant who devotes himself to imagining ways for the courts to better serve the public – and then to putting those ideas to work. We appreciate his energy, creativity and commitment to the Allen County Courts.”

Nancarrow is currently in his second term as Allen County clerk. Previoulsy, he was chief deputy clerk for nearly eight years.

“When I first ran for office, my goal was to do more with less and to work closely with our bar association and judiciary in order to enhance operations for the public,” Nancarrow said in a news release. “Other jurisdictions often look to Allen County’s judiciary for guidance and this award serves as recognition of our leadership.”

The Association of Indiana Counties’ goal is to better county government through “representation of counties at the Indiana General Assembly; research and dissemination of information; communications through publications and seminars; professional training and educational programs; liaison between counties, state and federal agencies; and technical and managerial assistance.
