Jermaine Randle was found guilty on Wednesday following a two-day jury trial, according to court documents.
According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Randle shot and killed Shawn Barnett and Larry Moorman on Jan. 12, 2023.
A witness to the murders identified Randle as the suspect and could pinpoint the vehicle he was driving.
The witness said they heard a man shouting from the victims’ apartment followed by several gunshots. They then heard a person leave the apartment before seeing Randle’s vehicle pull away.
Police officers used the FLOCK license plate reader cameras to locate Randle’s vehicle hours after the shooting. He and his girlfriend were both taken into custody at a nearby laundromat.
Investigators said Randle displayed erratic speech and behavior during police interviews. Nearby residents said Randle displayed “bizarre” behavior in the days before the murders, according to the prosecutor’s office.
“Two innocent people were horrifically gunned down in their home as a result of the defendant’s desire for unsubstantiated vengeance,” Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a news release. “Two families were able to get justice because of the willingness of witnesses to not only cooperate during the investigation but to testify before a jury of their peers.”
Randle will be sentenced on May 19.
The case is State of Indiana v. Jermaine Randle, 49D07-2301-MR-001538.
