SJCBA welcomes new members

Bar Crawl is a section of Indiana Lawyer that highlights bar association news around the state. We try to include

The St. Joseph County Bar Association hosted its annual “An Evening at the Cove” June 30 for new members of the
SJCBA at Coveleski Regional Stadium, home of the South Bend Silver Hawks baseball team.

“This is one of our favorite events each year,” Amy McGuire, executive director of the SJCBA, said via e-mail.
She credited New Lawyers Committee Chair Victoria Wolf with her help for the event.

New members and their families could attend this event for free as guests of the SJCBA. This year, the New Lawyers Committee
hosted 120 participants.

The event took place on the Corona Party Deck, “a private area in right field full of picnic tables, where we
can eat, socialize, and watch the game.”

McGuire said the weather was “picture-perfect” but added she was disappointed the Silver Hawks lost 15-3 against
the West Michigan Whitecaps. But everyone won at the end with the evening’s fireworks night, an early July 4 celebration.

Wolf said she has enjoyed working on other events, including a group that included new members and their families who attended
“Seussical the Musical” at the South Bend Civic Theatre in April; an Applied Professionalism CLE in May; and in
early June members volunteered at the Sunburst Marathon that starts at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown South
Bend and ends at The University of Notre Dame Stadium. She said they are also gearing up for a wine tour and fundraiser that
will take place in August.

In related news, SJCBA held its annual meeting June 4. Patricia E. Primmer succeeded to the office of president; and Joseph
R. Fullenkamp succeeded to the office of president-elect. Attorney Douglas E. Sakaguchi was elected vice president. All three
attorneys will serve in their respective positions July 1 through June 30, 2011. Secretary Matthew R. Kaczmarek and treasurer
Mitchell R. Heppenheimer continue their positions as officers.•
