A Marion man will be honored in March by the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association with the G.F. Bettineski Child Advocate of the Year Award. Frank West of CASA of Grant County will receive the award during the association’s 30th annual national conference in Chicago.

The association recognizes a volunteer who has made significant contributions to promoting the best interests of abused and neglected children. West was chosen because of his thorough work as a CASA volunteer and the significant positive impact he’s made on children’s lives. West is also an active member of the county’s CASA fundraising committee and often speaks for CASA at community events. He also volunteers at the Indiana Fostering Futures pilot program.

The award is named after the Seattle judge who first thought of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court.

Indianapolis-based Child Advocates Inc. is also being honored at the conference. It will receive the National CASA Inclusion Award.
