Students will earn a JD from Maurer School of Law and an LLB from the Jindal Global Law School in four years and a summer. Students in Jindal’s bachelor of arts/LLB program can earn degrees from each school in six years.
The schools announced the program Monday, which is the first time an Indian law school and U.S. law school have worked together in this fashion. The degree program is just one of several collaborations between the schools. The two have bilateral student exchange programs and Jindal provides assistance to Maurer Stewart Fellows in summer internships with Indian law firms and organizations. Maurer faculty have also visited, lectured or taught at the Jindal Global Law School since the affiliation between the two schools was formed in November 2010.
Maurer School of Law Professor William D. Henderson said that this program will help its students become more attractive to U.S. law firms with growing Asian practices and to U.S. companies with operations in India.
