“Perspectives on Corporate Governance: A Symposium” will begin with a panel discussion at 9:30 a.m. featuring John Ratcliffe, a partner in the Ashcroft law firm in Dallas, who will speak on the expanding role of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act on corporate governance; Glen Schleyer, a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City, who will speak on shareholder versus director control on social policy matters; University of St. Thomas School of Law professor Wulf Kaal, who will speak on contingent capital as a corporate governance tool; and Dr. William Bradford, law professor at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, who will speak on alternative means of corporate governance.
NDLS professor Lisa Casey will moderate the discussion, which takes place in Room 3130 of Eck Hall of Law.
At 12:30 p.m. in the Patrick F. McCartan Courtroom, Ashcroft will speak on the application of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. A reception will follow in the atrium.
The symposium is open to the public.
