Subscribe NowBankruptcy filings are down 14 percent across the country for the 12-month period ending June 30, 2012, as compared to the year ending June 30, 2011, the Administrative Office of the United States Courts reported Friday. Filings are down by at least 13 percent in Indiana courts.
Data released Friday shows a decline in petitions of nearly 218,000 across the U.S. to 1,311,602 filed for the year ending June 30. In the Northern District of Indiana, filings fell 13 percent. There were 17,286 petitions in for the year ending June 30, 2011; by June 30, 2012, there were 15,039 filed. In the Southern District of Indiana, 26,136 petitions were filed in the year ending June 30, 2011; by June 30, 2012, 22,282 were filed, resulting in a 14.7 percent decrease.
Overall filings were down 11.1 percent in the 7th Circuit.
