Subscribe NowThe Diversity Committee of the St. Joseph County Bar Association is hosting a presentation on diversity in the legal profession Sept. 24, which will include former Indiana Justice Frank Sullivan Jr. discussing inclusion among the judiciary and the selection of judges.
The presentation, “Twenty-First Century Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession,” will examine the Supreme Court’s diversity initiatives and the role it plays in increasing access to justice in the state. The event will also discuss internalizing inclusion in the legal community and work place and retention of a diverse workforce.
Sullivan, now a professor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, will moderate a panel discussion. Presenters include Daryl A. Chamblee, Steptoe & Johnson LLP, Washington, D.C.; John Z. Huang, Indiana Department of Education’s Office of Legal Affairs; Jimmie L. McMillian Jr., Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Indianapolis; Felipe Merino, Merino Law Firm, South Bend; and Mauri Miller, Notre Dame Law School, JD candidate 2013.
The event is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Palais Royale, 105 W. Colfax Ave, South Bend. It is $50 for attorneys, $20 for paralegals, and $10 for students. Hors d’oeuvres and a reception will follow.
