Paralegals give toys to ‘Bears on Patrol’ program
The Indianapolis Bar Association Paralegal Committee once again turned over thousands of teddy bears during its annual holiday luncheon. The stuffed animals were collected at area law firms to support the “Bears on Patrol” program and given to the Indianapolis Fire Department.
Representatives from the fire department will distribute the bears to various agencies including the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Indianapolis Fire Department and Wishard Health Services’ EMS. Emergency responders carry the bears in vehicles and use them to comfort children in traumatic situations like fires, automobile accidents, domestic or child abuse situations, and violent crimes.
A total of 3,904 bears were collected this year by the Paralegal Committee. For the fourth consecutive year, the paralegals at Bose McKinney & Evans LLP were recognized for the most donations, contributing 1,072 bears.•
