As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowRetired Judge Alfred W. Moellering of Fort Wayne died Sunday at the age of 86. He was a longtime Superior Court judge in Allen County.
Moellering spent 20 years on the state court bench, retiring in 1991. Prior to becoming a judge, President John F. Kennedy appointed him as U.S. attorney for the Northeast Indiana District in 1962, a position he held until 1970.
Moellering was a World War II Army veteran and 1953 graduate of Indiana University School of Law.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter Caroline Moellering; son David (Linda) Moellering; several grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and step-great-granddaughter.
Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
