According to the clinic, the Refugee Green Card Day event aims to provide a “one-stop shop” where refugees can meet with an attorney, fill out applications to adjust status, receive physical exams, obtain passport photos, and sign all documentation before sending it to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The event will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Outreach Center, 3333 N. Meridian St., Suite 201, Indianapolis. The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic said the first-of-its-kind event will expedite the process for dozens of refugees from nations including Bhutan, Burma, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia.
Attendees should bring with them an I-94 card; evidence of one year’s physical presence in the United States (such as a lease, letter of employment, pay stubs, bills, school enrollment, or similar documentation); a Social Security card or driver’s license; Form I-693 or updated immunization records; and $10 to cover the cost of the passport photos and certified mail.
Anyone interested in receiving assistance should call 317-296-3273 and leave a message with your name, telephone number and whether you can communicate in English. A similar event is being planned for February.
