Outgoing U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett will join the Indianapolis law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, effective Aug. 1, the firm announced in a news release Monday.

Hogsett announced earlier this month that he will step down as U.S. attorney  for the Southern District of Indiana, immediately fueling persistent rumors that he will run for the Democratic nomination for mayor of Indianapolis. Hogsett is barred from involvement in politics while in office.

Hogsett’s resignation as U.S. attorney is effective July 31.

Bose McKinney & Evans managing partner Jeffrey R. Gaither said Hogsett will join as a partner in the firm’s litigation practice group, concentrating on internal investigations and corporate audits.

“Joe is an extremely accomplished attorney and we are thrilled to have him join our firm where his tremendous talents will be utilized to assist our clients,” Gaither said in a statement.

“I am pleased to join the practice of Bose McKinney & Evans, a firm that I have always respected and whose reputation for excellence in Indiana is well known,” Hogsett said. “Perhaps most importantly, I have been thoroughly impressed by this firm’s long history of active engagement in communities statewide.”
