Gov. Mike Pence made the announcement Tuesday, praising Parent’s ability as an attorney.
“With nearly two decades of civil law experience and expertise in Lake County, Bruce Parent has the skills and dedication necessary to serve Hoosiers well as Lake Superior Judge,” Pence said.
Parent is a solo practitioner and has served as a public defender with Lake Superior Court since 1997. From 1995 to 1997, he was a deputy prosecutor for Lake County.
He is a registered Indiana family law mediator and a member of the Lake County Bar Association as well as the Indiana Public Defender Council. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin and his law degree from Valparaiso University Law School.
