A Georgia man hopes an online petition will help persuade a northwestern Indiana prosecutor to file charges against a trucker for a crash that killed seven family members.

Gerald Williams says he started the petition soon after the anniversary of the August 2013 crash when he realized the Jasper County prosecutor didn't intend to file charges. Williams tells The Times of Munster that decision is absurd.

Prosecutor Christine Haskell has said the crash was tragic but didn't warrant criminal charges.

Police say the crash happened when a semitrailer slammed into an SUV stopped in an Interstate 65 construction zone near Roselawn.

Those killed were Williams' daughters 35-year-old Yvette Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, and 27-year-old Lindsey Williams of Merrillville; their uncle, and the women's children, ages 3 to 7.
