By Rebecca W. Geyer, Rebecca W. Geyer & Associates PC

The Indianapolis Bar Foundation (IBF) is pleased to announce the formation of its new Legacy Fund, a planned giving initiative that ensures that the mission of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation – to advance justice and lead positive change in Indianapolis through philanthropy, education and service – will continue to positively impact our community and our profession for generations to follow. One by one, each supporter and each gift to the Legacy Fund champions the IBF’s mission, and ensures that programs and services crucial to the advancement of the profession and the betterment of the community continue to exist.

The Legacy Fund is a powerful new tool in assisting the IBF as it provides grants, education, and service to the Indianapolis community and its lawyers. Annually, the IBF awards a $35,000 grant known as the Impact Fund Grant, which funds the work of a non-profit organization providing a significant positive impact in central Indiana through the promotion of access to justice for indigent persons. Past recipients of the Impact Fund Grant include the Joseph Maley Foundation, the Military Assistance Project of Indiana Legal Services Inc., Reach for Youth, and the Health and Human Rights Clinic at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. The IBF also provides $1

05,000 each year to an array of pro bono and community service-related initiatives co-sponsored with the Indianapolis Bar Association. Some of the programs funded include Ask a Lawyer, Legal Line, Low Asset Will Project and educational programming at the Bench Bar Conference. The IBF also funds scholarships and leadership training for law students and attorneys as a direct investment in the success and excellence of the legal profession in Indianapolis.

It’s easy to designate the IBF as a recipient of your planned gift. Simply call the IBF at (317) 269-2000 or email [email protected]. Estate planning attorneys Richard O. Kissell, Sean J. Fahey, and Rebecca W. Geyer have graciously volunteered to assist individuals in making gifts to the IBF Legacy Fund and can assist you in your planning. The Indianapolis Bar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your contributions are fully tax deductible provided no goods or services were received in consideration of your donation. There are many options for donating to the Legacy Fund, including:

• Gifts of Cash
• Bequests
• Charitable Trusts
• Gifts of Real Estate
• Gifts of Appreciated Securities
• Gifts of Life Insurance
• Gifts of Retirement Assets

The law is your profession, the IBF is your foundation and your gift is the legacy that secures the future of the profession. Please consider making a gift to the Legacy Fund as a means of giving back to a profession which has given so much to you.•
