An Anderson man convicted last month in his cousin’s shooting death has been sentenced to 65 years in prison.

De’Auntaye White, 19, received the maximum possible sentence Monday for his murder conviction in last year’s slaying of Quayshawn Jordan, 21.

Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings told The Herald Bulletin he normally does not seek the maximum sentence for someone as young as White. But the prosecutor said “that was what needed to be done” in light of White’s previous involvement in two other shootings.

A Madison County jury convicted White in Jordan’s killing last month.
