The Rev. John Jenkins, the university president, announced Wednesday that Sotomayor will discuss a wide range of issues with NBC News correspondent Anne Thompson and U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Ann Claire Williams on Sept. 2. Thompson and Williams are Notre Dame alumnae and members of the board of trustees.
Sotomayor, who grew up poor in the Bronx, is the first Hispanic and third woman appointed to the Supreme Court.
The event at Notre Dame is open to the public. Sotomayor also will speak with smaller gatherings while on campus.
