The Indiana Supreme Court’s newest justice will have his investiture ceremony Thursday.

Geoffrey G. Slaughter, the state’s 109th justice, will take the ceremonial oath administered by Chief Justice Loretta Rush, and his formal courtroom photograph will be unveiled. The ceremony will also include remarks from U.S. Magistrate Judge Debra McVicker Lynch of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Both Lynch and Slaughter worked at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP before joining the bench.

Slaughter was appointed in May by Gov. Mike Pence and began his time as a justice in June. Slaughter succeeded Justice Brent Dickson, who is now working as a senior judge.

The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom. The public can watch a webcast of the ceremony at http://courts.in.gov.
