A state board is set to confirm the winner of the Democratic primary for southwestern Indiana's congressional seat after the losing candidate decided to withdraw his challenge.

The Indiana Recount Commission will meet Friday in Indianapolis to settle on a final vote total from the May primary between Ron Drake and former state Rep. David Orentlicher. Preliminary results showed Drake ahead by 68 votes out of nearly 60,000 cast in the 8th Congressional District.

Orentlicher tells the (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star the recount confirmed Drake as the winner.

Drake lives in Sullivan County and is a former Washington, D.C., attorney.

The winner will face Republican Rep. Larry Bucshon in the November election. Bucshon is seeking a fourth term in Congress.
