A Yorktown man is accused of hitting a horse-drawn buggy with his pickup truck and then fleeing the scene.

The accident happened Wednesday night on a Madison County road near Anderson. The two occupants of the buggy were hospitalized for injuries. One of the two horses was euthanized.

The (Muncie) Star Press reported that Madison County authorities preliminarily charged 37-year-old Jason Eugene Moore of Yorktown with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.

He was booked into the Madison County jail in Anderson Friday and released the same day after posting bond.

Moore has no publicly listed phone number and could not be reached for comment. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
