The IndyBar’s Solo/Small Firm Committee is in the process of selecting its Executive Committee for 2017. The Executive Committee meets monthly and plans and executes educational programming, social events, and community service initiatives to benefit IndyBar solo/small firm attorneys and the larger community.
If you would like to get more involved by serving on the Executive Committee, please submit a brief statement of interest to Lesley Hayes at [email protected] by noon on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016. The statement need not be long, but it would be helpful to know where and what area(s) of law you practice and any particular interests or goals you have for serving on the Executive Committee.
AHLA Scholarship Available
Pack your bags for the Windy City! The Health Care & Life Sciences Section is excited to bring back scholarships for the American Health Lawyers Association Fundamentals of Health Care Law Conference. The conference will take place in downtown Chicago November 15-17. The scholarship includes registration fee, membership in the AHLA, $150 for parking and $300 toward travel and lodging expenses (approximately $1500 value).
Lawyers with less than five years experience are encouraged to apply (preference will be given toward solo practitioners, government lawyers or those in academia). Those who are interested, please fill out the application and submit a resume by Friday, Sept. 30. Recipient(s) will be announced Friday, Oct. 7. Find application instructions at indybar.org/hcls.
Guardian Ad Litem Training Available
The Indiana Division of State Court Administration Office of Guardian Ad Lite/Court Appointed Special Advocates will host a Guardian Ad Litem training for interested volunteers on Oct. 20 in Indianapolis. This training meets the statutory requirements for GAL attorneys who represent children in juvenile court cases. Six hours of CLE, and one hour of ethics are available to those who complete the entire training. There is no cost to attend the training.
