The News and Tribune reported 28-year-old Christopher Bruck was found guilty on both charges.
Authorities say the boy died from a head injury after the man struck him on the forehead with his palm in January 2015.
The prosecution said doctor reports and testimony from the trial, which began Sept. 23, proved that Bruck intentionally struck his son.
Bruck's attorney said his client might not have injured the child, citing studies that brain bleed, which was discovered during the child's surgery, can be caused by falls, viruses and blood conditions.
Bruck is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 7. He faces 40 to 80 years in prison.
