Supporters of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation (IBF) spent an “Evening Under the Stars” at the Biltwell Event Center on Friday, Oct. 14th as they bid, socialized and dined at this annual fundraiser for the foundation. With more than 350 guests in attendance, the evening helped to raise over $130,000 to support the foundation’s mission of advancing justice to lead to positive change in Indianapolis through philanthropy, education and service. The live auction was emceed by James Bell of Paganelli Law Group, who kept the crowd laughing and bidding throughout the evening.
As part of the evening’s festivities, the foundation awarded its annual Impact Fund grant of $35,000 to Indy Reads, an Indianapolis nonprofit agency that promotes and improves the literacy of adults and families in central Indiana. Indy Reads won the grant for developing a program that tackles adult literacy issues, specifically those that face individuals in our criminal justice system. The Impact Fund grant allows Indy Reads to embark on a year-long joint project that will deliver 10 to 20 legal literacy workshops to student inmates and the Indy Reads community.
Event chairs Briana Clark and Meaghan Haller of Bingham Greenebaum Doll, LLP, along with their wonderful committee volunteers, worked tirelessly to plan this amazing event. Thank you to the many sponsors and donors who made it possible by pledging funds and donating countless auction items. The success of this event enables the foundation to effectuate meaningful impact for our city.•
