The (Northwest Indiana) Times reported that the logs show that a Gary police officer was sent Dec. 1 to the theater for a stolen car and Democratic state Rep. Vernon Smith of Gary was the victim.
The newspaper reports the log doesn't say if the car was recovered or if there were any arrests.
Gary police Lt. Dawn Westerfield told the newspaper she needed approval before she could discuss the investigation. Smith said he had no comment.
Smith is board chairman of African American Achievers Youth Corps. The nonprofit organization owns the performing arts center.
