The agreement calls for the housing authority in the central Indiana community to compensate seven victims of discrimination identified by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana alleged discrimination against tenants with disabilities and sexual harassment of female tenants. The housing authority also will update its policies, train employees and file reports with the Justice Department.
Michael Palmer, an attorney representing the Housing Authority, told The Herald Bulletin the lawsuit was settled during pre-negotiations and will be dismissed in the near future. He said the agency still denies the allegations at Westvale Manor and Lynwood Village.
